When to come to A&E

Come straight to A&E for serious or life-threatening emergencies, such as severe chest pain, heavy bleeding or difficulty breathing.

When you arrive, a nurse will assess you. Patients are seen in order of how serious their condition is, not in order of arrival, so the sickest people are always seen first.
