Dr Flor Kent, a loyal friend of GCGH

Dr Flor Kent, a London-based aesthetic doctor and sculptor, has supported the hospital for many years. She collects unused medical supplies from colleagues, clinics, friends and families in the UK and hands them to our Director, Adam Hirschfield, to be shipped to Kampala. In July 2018 she handed over her third medical aid donation, and the collections have continued since.

What began with boxes of supplies has grown into large equipment. Her fifth shipment brought a complete set-up for our Dental Department: a dental chair with its light, a motor and suction unit, an autoclave and an instrument washer-disinfector, all items that would otherwise have been thrown away in the UK. Other shipments have included syringes and needles, blood test tubes and phlebotomy supplies, sterile dressing packs, gloves, crutches and walking aids, nutrition feeds and medicines.

Under the banner #MedicalHelpforUganda, she has also raised awareness for GCGH among doctors in the UK, including at the Wigmore Medical aesthetic medicine conference at the Royal College of Physicians in London.

Thank you, Dr Kent, and thank you to everyone who has given through her.

And thank you to the many others, including patients who, once their injuries healed, gave their walking boots and spare medicines.
